Miles without Stiles – 17th Oct 2015

There will soon be a New “Miles without Stiles Circular Walk” around Bloxham.
Come and Join the launch at 10:30 am on 17th; Oct 2015  at the Joiners Arms, Bloxham.
After the formal opening, you are invited to join us for the new short walk (approx. I mile)

The neighbourhood plan has policies trying to protect existing footpaths and bridleways. Residents are very keen to preserve a rural, traffic-free feel for such footpaths – especially those within easy reach of the village that offer a safe environment for both ends of the age spectrum. We are therefore delighted to see the pro-active creation of a new circular walk.
The N.P. emphasizes the importance of PROW given the poor connectivity of the pavements in the village but it also  recognises the high value residents place upon PROW for their health and recreational benefits.

Until now it has been impossible to connect these footpaths to form a circular route but local landowners have recently agreed to permissive path rights that enable us to launch new walks including a circular walk.
Various improvements have also been made including the replacement of existing stiles on the route by new kissing gates to produce walks accessible and enjoyable to the whole community.
The groups shown in the photo are from the Bloxham Health Walks who regularly don their walking shoes each week to tread the Bloxham PROW.

Thanks are due to local landowners agreeing to permissive path rights. We also acknowledge the part played by a small group of residents who have worked with the Parish Council and the Trust for Oxfordshire’s Environment (TOE2) and their funding partner:Grundon Waste Management Ltd. who have enabled us to afford many of the improvements.

Full details of the walks will be available at the launch event and subsequently on the Parish Council  website.
