Downsizing in the UK


This report, entitled Housing Mobility and Downsizing at Older Ages in Britain and the United State, is an academic study by the Rand organisation.
It is quite complex but the graph on page 38 indicates that those who move in the UK on average tend to only downsize by 1 room.
As the average UK house contains 3 bedrooms this implies they still retain one spare bedroom.
It’s not clear how this research would apply to Bloxham where the norm is a 4-bedroomed property.
