Taken from the CDC Planning Obloigations Book

11.5    There is an identified need for 7800m2 of play space per 1000 people or 7.8m2 per person. The cost of construction/provision and maintenance would be £63.42 perm2 (at 2010). Therefore the cost per person for play space provision is £494.67 per person. (See ‘Appendix D (v) – Commuted sums calculations’ for the full calculation)
11.6 There is an identified need for 11300 m2 of outdoor sports facilities per 1000 people or 11.3m2 per  person. The cost of construction/provision and maintenance would be £35.42 perm2 (at 2010).Therefore the cost per person for outdoor sports provision is £400.24 per person. (See ‘Appendix D (v) – Commuted sums calculations’ for the full calculation)

Thjis is included as it sets the context for judging recreation provision levels in Bloxham.

The 2011 Census indicates a population of 3374 and so presumably we should have access to:

  • 3374 x 7.8m2 = 26317m2 of play space
  • 3374 x 11.32m2 = 38126m2 of sport space.

It will be interesting to see how this compares with the areas available.
